چکیده
Abstract Cold metal transfer (CMT) welding technique was used in the manufacturing of hypoeutectic carbide-type Co-based Stellite 12 hardfacings on martensitic stainless steel. It discovered that CMT process is capable producing relatively thick (> 2.5 mm) low diluted single-layer coatings with cored wire without cracks and pores. These were investigated using microscopy (optical scanning electron microscopy), X-ray diffraction, hardness measurements. The high melting point chromium tungsten particles inside large therefore remained unmelted clad layers. Self-mated sliding wear tests performed a pin-on-disc tribometer at room temperature 300 °C to determine resistance friction coatings. coefficients similar (~ 0.35) both temperatures. Differences exhibited ~ 40% greater loss material temperature. performance did not, however, reach self-mated laser 6 reference material. hardfacing finally successfully demonstrated ring-shaped component.

Nanotribological behavior of deep cryogenically treated martensitic stainless steel
Cryogenic treatments are increasingly used to improve the wear resistance of various steel alloys by means of transformation of retained austenite, deformation of virgin martensite and carbide refinement. In this work the nanotribological behavior and mechanical properties at the nano-scale of cryogenically and conventionally treated AISI 420 martensitic stainless steel were evaluated. Conventi...
متن کاملElectrochemical Characterization of a Martensitic Stainless Steel
This paper focused on the characterization of electrochemical behavior of a martensitic stainless steel in the acidic solutions. For this purpose, electrochemical parameters were derived from potentiodynamic polarization, Mott Schottky analysis and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques. The potentiodynamic polarization results showed that corrosion current density of AISI 420 ...
متن کاملThe Wear Behavior of Textured Steel Sliding against Polymers
Artificially fabricated surface textures can significantly improve the friction and wear resistance of a tribological contact. Recently, this surface texturing technique has been applied to polymer materials to improve their tribological performance. However, the wear behavior of textured tribo-pairs made of steel and polymer materials has been less thoroughly investigated and is not well under...

This paper presents a series of tests on cold-formed stainless steel bolted connections. The test specimens were fabricated from three different types of stainless steel, including austenitic stainless steel EN1.4301 (AISI 304) and EN1.4571 (AISI 316Ti having small amount of titanium) as well as lean duplex stainless steel EN1.4162 (AISI S32101). The material properties of the three types of st...
متن کاملEvaluating Wear Properties of AISI 420 Martensitic Stainless Steel after Laser Transformation Hardening
As the turbine industries need to manufacture turbine blades made of martensitic stainless steel AISI 420 with high toughness and wear resistance, local laser hardening has become more and more important. In this research, surface of the samples was initially hardened by high-power pulsed laser beam; then, optimum parameters of hardening were calculated and wear resistance of surface hardened s...
